Yuri Gagarin was a Russian pilot in the Soviet Union Air Force. Then he became an astronaut and he was the first man to travel to space. Gagarin was born on March 9th 1934 in Klushino Russia. He joined the Soviet Air Force at the age of 21, right after he graduated Technical College. He was obsessed with flying that was his passion that’s what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He dreamt that one day he will fly to the moon. In 1960 he was chosen with 19 other Pilots for the Soviet space program. He was giving training to become an astronaut. He was a good candidate because he had all the requirements that the Space Program need it so he could go to space. On April 12th 1961 the Vostok 3KA-3 spacecraft With Yuri Gagarin aboard was launched. He became the first human to travel to space and the first to orbit the Earth. Gagarin was a celebrity after the launched to space.

He was awarded the title of hero of the Soviet Union. He became a flying instructor. On March 27th 1968 Yuri and flight instructor Vladimir Seryogin died in a jet crash. The cost of the crash was because Yuri had the wrong weather updates. Both parties were cremated and the ashes were buried.
