Ready or not, the new year’s here. And if you’re like everyone else around you right now, you’re coming up with some pretty ambitious resolutions. That’s awesome. Also probably a little bit scary. Sure, it’s easy to say you’re going to get more organized—but how are you actually going to do that?
The question is: how to achieve my New Year’s resolutions? Here we present the best advices to complete what you want to accomplish.
Set Realistic Goals, Make them SMART
Ensure that you set realistic goals for yourself. Being successful becomes its own motivation, so set yourself up for success with SMART goals: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-sensitive.
Only pick three goals
You should have one really important goal that you’re going to achieve no matter what. You can set two other goals to work toward as well. Just remember to decide which goal is your “main” one.
Replace Habits, Don’t Try to Eliminate Them
Understand that habits need to be replaced by new behavior. If you have a habit of going out for lunch, that habit can’t just go away. It needs to be replaced by making your lunch. Plan your meals so that you have left-overs that can become your lunch Work on one habit per month To achieve an important goal, you’ll probably need to pick up several good habits. For example, to get in shape you’ll need to exercise, cut down on your drinking, eat more vegetables, and so on.
If you try to pick up a lot of good habits at once, you’re probably going to fail. It’s just too hard to focus.
Check Your Progress Frequently
Whatever you use, a day planner, an online calendar or a smartphone, or a handwritten list, make sure that you check your progress frequently. People have been known to start their day by looking at their goals and then, scheduling time or action steps to move closer to the end they have in mind.
Recommendations:Follow these tips and write down your realistics goals for this year.
