Taking Time For Yourself

In a world where doing things fast is a priority taking time to relax and take care of yourself seems like an impossible mission, many even tend to think of it as a waste of time when in reality not doing it may cost you in the end. Stress and the inability to just enjoy a little time-out have very real health and psychological effects, such as insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and much more.

We sometimes ignore our need for “me” time by thinking about how we’re not doing things that are stereotypically considered important even to the extent of feeling selfish for taking the needed time out when there’s “so much left to do”, but have you ever thought of what you are ignoring by doing this? That’s right, Yourself.

Your health is vital, and if you think these obligations can’t succeed without you, think of what might happen if you become sick and have to set them aside for a longer amount of time. Breath, relax, pamper yourself a little and congratulate yourself for being a real-life superhero.

Vocabulary:

  • Priority: Something that is very important and must be dealt with before other things.
  • Stereotypically: In the way that you would expect someone or something to be, do, behave, etc., even though this idea is often wrong.
  • Pamper: To give someone special treatment, making that person as comfortable as possible and giving them whatever they want.
