The office of the State Bank of the Russian Empire is a building in Rostov-on-Don, constructed in 1913. Rostov affiliate of Central Bank is placed there. It has the status of an object of cultural heritage of regional significance.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was located in a two-story building on the corner of Bolshaya Sadovaya Street and Sredny Prospekt (now Sokolova Avenue). There was not enough room for it, then it was decided to build a new building instead of the old one.
The project of the State Bank was designed by architect M. M. Peretyatkovich in 1910. Initially, the process was ruled by the architect S.V. Popilin, but he was soon pushed aside because of his tardiness. Peretyatkovich chose a Rostov civil engineer PA Tarachkov as an assistant. A.P. After establishing of the Soviet power, the building was nationalized.
The ensemble of the bank construction entered architectural and sculptural composition located on the main axis of the facade, comprising a fountain, and the ladder balustrade, lions sculpture disposed on the runways. Bank building is the only surviving building of the entire architectural ensemble of the square of the Soviets during World War II.
