In the amazing land of Bolivia, we find the world’s biggest natural mirror: the Salar de Uyuni or the Uyuni Salt Flat. This salt flat is about 10,582 square kilometers and it’s located in southwest Bolivia in the Daniel Campos Province, near the crest of the Andes.

This natural wonder is the result of many transformations of prehistoric lakes. It has a salt crust of a few meters and when it rains it’s covered with a thin layer of water. This creates the mirror effect, most of the year the salt flat remains dry but rain makes this place a mesmerizing sight.

As unbelievable as it can be, this place is a perfect spot for breeding pink flamingos. Also, temperatures are not as hot as you might think, they oscillate between 13° C and 21°C. You can rent transportation to explore the vast salt flat and take memorable pictures of this beauty.

You can find a hotel with a restaurant made entirely with salt and at night you cannot miss the incredible starry night over the salt flat. It is so flat and large that it is used to calibrate altimeters of Earth’ observation satellites and it can be seen from space. It is definitely a place you must add to your bucket list.
