Vietnamese Culture may be still mysterious and unknown to most people outside the country. Today more and more are going to Vietnam for travelling and doing business. Getting to know Vietnam and Vietnamese Culture is interesting and fascinating.
The Candle Dance is a dance performed by a group of dancers to the accompaniment of a group of musicians. The dancers carry lit candles on plates held on the palm of each hand. The dancers dance in group, rotating the plates carefully so that the plate is always horizontal, and the candles are not extinguished.
This traditional Vietnamese Dance comprises several different forms including theater and opera, This dance is considered to be an integral part of the Vietnamese Culture since ancient times.
This Dance was imported from China into Vietnamese Culture where bit developed its own distinct style. This Dance has been performed at traditional Festivals, but also during other occasions such the opening of a new business. This Dance is symbolic, supposedly used to ward off evil spirits.
This Dance requires great skill and the dancers are often dressed in extravagant costumes. Currently this dance is performed at festivals or other special occasions, in order to promote the traditional arts.
